April is an exciting month for the Jolkona team as we prepare for the arrival of our next Jolkona Catalyst cohort! The eight social entrepreneurs in the Jolkona Catalyst program, a mentor driven accelerator for founders from developing countries, will journey from Indonesia to Seattle next month. During the three-week program these social entrepreneurs will work with mentors, innovative thought leaders, seasoned business professionals, and startup founders here in the vibrant Seattle community.
Today’s featured entrepreneur is Erwin Dwi Nurpermadi, founder of Bina Karya. Bina Karya provides online and in-person entrepreneurship training to underprivileged communities, teaching marketable technical skills in just 4-6 months. Bina Karya provides training in graphic design, batik, sewing, and animal agriculture. Fun fact: they created “Batik Box”, a portable learning tool that helps schoolchildren learn to create this beautiful Indonesian textile! Erwin is looking forward to learning how to better develop and scale his venture through his participation in the Catalyst program.
You can also register for our Jolkona Catalyst Showcase on May 25th in the beautiful Galvanize building in historic Pioneer Square. Click here to RSVP!
