Jolkona believes in supporting innovative grassroots strategies that can have ripple effects of change to alleviate poverty. We are amplifying our impact this year by helping out with the 2014 Global Social Enterprise Competition (GSEC), held at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, to challenge university students from around the world to use innovative business principles to lift up the developing world.
The competition this year is comprised of 19 phenomenal teams, including seven from our co-founders’ native Bangladesh. Jolkona is excited to host a casual meet-and-greet with the Bangladeshi finalists at Microsoft’s Redmond campus this Friday morning. Come hear about their exciting proposals, including a life-saving fire extinguishing sprinkler system, low-cost solar powered water purifier, and a wheelchair ramp that promotes easier commuting. The event will also highlight Jolkona’s philanthropy projects in Bangladesh, particularly through our Lift Bangla programs.
This is our chance to meet the next heroes of Bangladesh, and hear about the kind of work that we can support to make the world better for our generation, and brighter for future generations. We hope to see you there, or you can follow these projects through our social media channels.
